Submitted on 3/29/2020 Review title of Kal Skirata 501This game is NOT pay to win. Please stop spreading this BS that this game is pay to win. It's grind to win. You have to grind your levels. The only thing you really pay for are cosmetics and the gold season pass and even then you can earn star gems to buy that pass.

I am a lvl 55 gunner and a 40 fighter and I haven't spent a penny for anything. It's a great squad based game.

It's all about killing waves of enemies and grinding for your weapon drops and levels. This game isn't for everybody. You want to talk about pay to win then play Black Desert Online. THAT is a pay to win game.

If you aren't into killing waves of enemies and squad based play then this isn't for you. Submitted on 3/30/2020 Review title of JabeFantastic MMORPG in a market of Dry WOW clones.I have played the original PSO for countless hours on the GameCube via private servers as well as Blue Burst on PC. I have been thoroughly enjoying PSO 2 and compared to other MMORPG games, this game in my opinion triumphs.I actually enjoy playing this in opposition to the dry World Of Warcraft formula that appears to permeate most MMORPGs today.

Phantasy Star Online 2 may now be getting older, but the game provides freshness that is much needed in gaming. Submitted on 4/14/2020 Review title of ValentineBetter Late Than NeverWhen, in 2012, Phantasy Star Universe abruptly got cut off at the knees and PSO2's english localization got cancelled, I thought this day would never come. This is exactly what I expected to be playing all those years ago. Classic Phantasy Star terms and concepts are kept intact, while new aspects are localized faithfully. They even managed to do something that makes me smile, and got a English vocalist for Quna's songs when she does concerts, making sure that even when she's belting out her songs, there's no disconnect. The only problem, and it's a minor one, is that the current version is the original, Matter Boards and all, version from before the Animation was released. But there was a lot of things lost in the latest version of the game on PC. And everyone gets a second bite of the cherry to get them.I look forward to seeing the long awaited evolution of PSO2 in English, even if it's nearly a decade late. Submitted on 4/16/2020 Review title of EvanA great time for fellow ARKsBy far one of my favorite MMOs to date.

Ive been playing since day one in japan. And the NA version is just as fun as it was then. Love hearing bosses in English to finally know what they are saying. Also the gameplay still holds up. It is not a turn based mmo but a more action focused one. The enemies are plentiful and the combat is great.

Outside that you have shops, personal rooms, personal mags and assistant maid bots. Yes some things you have to pay for so if you are very cheap you may find reason to gripe but the game is F2P so why gripe?

Submitted on 3/30/2020 Review title of SIR NAPSAL0TGreat for nostalgia, just not that greatFirst of all, yes the premium stuff is annoying, but honestly its not a huge deal. You may not be able to sell or trade, but you can still buy stuff from player shops, so gearing yourself up is barely impacted. The personal room being a subscription instead of a OTP is odd, but the small free room is fine if you just need the basics.Combat is really fun, but its certainly dated.

Enemies (especially bosses) can spam quick high power attacks that are dodgable, but will kill you outright or stunlock you to death with a single glancing hit. This is a bigger problem because a few attacks may hit well outside of the animated attack path. Enemies also occasionally clip into/through terrain which can either make a battle trivial or impossible. The game is worth a play, especially if you like the series, and I am personally having a blast. But its not the greatest or the best, its just okay.
