Background[edit]

Castlevania Judgment is a free-running 3D fighter inspired by fighting games like Power Stone.

Plot[edit]

The plot revolves around the mysterious new character Aeon, who is a guardian of time. Aeon has summoned various Vampire Hunters from throughout the ages to defeat the Time Reaper, who has been sent from 10,000 years in the future by Galamoth.[1] However, Galamoth's name is only mentioned when the Time Reaper is killed, 'Lord Galamoth'.

According to Iga; 'So as many of you know, the Castlevania timeline goes over 1000 years', 'And there is a character trying to destroy that timeline. Due to magic forces, a variety of characters from different eras are brought together'[2]

Gameplay[edit]

Judgment features traditional aspects from most fighting games, focusing on the depletion of heath bars for both characters on screen. However, unlike most fighters, it allows players to freely explore a small 3D environment, with interactive dangers that vary depending the level. While moving and fighting your opponent, destructible crates and crystals will drop into the level at random. These objects can be thrown at your opponent or broken to reveal Sub-Weapon power ups, Hearts and health. Hearts are used as ammunition for Sub-Weapons as usual.

Game Modes[edit]

Story Mode[edit]

In Story Mode each character plays through their own unique story. Brief in-game cut-scenes will take place before and after every fight. Beating story with each character awards 'Soul Keys'. After you collect all thirteen Soul Keys you unlock True Story mode.

Castle Mode[edit]

Castle mode allows players to visit every level of the castle by selecting paths from a map screen. The player will face enemies such as Zombies and standalone challenges like performing a five-hit combo. As you progress through the castle you gain unlockable bonus content like concept art, which you view in gallery mode. The primary goal of this mode is unlocking accessories to customize the character's costumes. There are around 45 different accessory items for each character and can be applied to the face, arms, body and head. The final challenge of Castle mode is a boss fight with Dracula.[3]

Arcade/Survival Mode[edit]

These are standard gameplay modes in most fighters. Arcade consists of eight stages & opponents selected in a random order, with objective beating the the mode quickly to gain a high score. In Survival mode the objective is to keep the character's life meter up so the damage will not carry over to the next battle. The ultimate goal for the player is to last as many rounds as they can before being KOed.

Versus Mode[edit]

Wiki

Versus mode allows two players to fight one another.

Wi-Fi Connection Mode[edit]

Versus battles can be taken online for further challenge.

Gallery Mode[edit]

Gallery mode allows players to view concept art and listen to the game's soundtrack.

Nintendo DS Connection[edit]

If a DS with Order of Ecclesia is connected to the Wii via Wi-Fi, Aeon and Shanoa will unlocked as playable characters. Aeon will be available in every mode except story. Additional accessories will be unlocked as well.
